Angie and I are in York County, Nebraska and we still have a long drive ahead of us. I decided after trying to take a nap in the car, that maybe we should just stop for the night. It was raining and the road we are on right now is super dark- so of course Angie agreed. She needs the sleep just as much as I do.
Highlights thus far have included:
We decided that we would take all the state line pictures that we could. And of course leaving Minnesota was a huge thing.
Me realizing what Angie was talking about when she was saying Come and Go...it's really Kum and Go... HAHA. Of course we had to stop to take pictures. We ended up stopping at multiple Kum and Go stations because once we told people about it, they wanted lighters. Sorry folks, we were unable to find lighters at any of them. Quite a while after the pictures were taken, Angie realized that part of the price is 69...which was weird considering all other stations around them were 10 cents or more higher.
Us trying to take another state line picture...but it left us laughing our butts off for quite a while. (Sorry that neither of them turned out well.) I was focusing on trying to take a picture of the green freeway sign that said "NEBRASKA, The Good Life, Home of Arbor Day". I was disappointed that we were not going to be able to pull over for a good picture. Angie kept saying "Welcome to Omaha" as she was pulling over to the shoulder. She kept creeping ahead until I finally said something about us getting further and further from the sign and that she can't back up on the shoulder on such a busy highway. She then pointed to the "Welcome to Omaha" monument on the side of the road. I hadn't seen it yet and she had not seen the green sign, so we were basically confusing each other. Good thing we were pulled over as we couldn't stop launghing.
Then we became really happy once we decided that we were going to stop for the night. And I swear her eyes were open while she was driving. The top picture is our "it's 2:30am in the morning and we just drove for 8 hours straight so we are tired and happy to have found a room" picture.
So yes, we found a motel room...we tried some of the hotels along the same strip of road and they prices were way higher. We figured that this room was within the budget. We are planning on getting up at 7 am to enjoy our 10% off coupon for the adjoining Country Kitchen, but in reality we do not need to leave the room until 11 am. Pretty sure that one of us will talk the other into hitting snooze for a few hours. We are going to have a bit of a mess to clean up in the morning because there was no way I could leave the cat in the car. I am not worried about extra charges, since we paid for the room in cash. We had bought puppy training pads for inside the kennell in case Kujo went to the bathroom. So we laid one on the floor and put some litter on top of it so that he knows that it is an okay spot to use the bathroom. Also set out a food and water dish- both of which he will not touch. It was entertaining to watch him explore the room and stretch his legs. I took him out of kennell for a while during the drive to put him on lap, but he was so nervous and antsy. It is extremely difficult to get him back in kennell, so the walks that I had planned for him will not be happening as expected.
Morning is going to come way to soon for both of us, so I think it is time for bed. Look for more updates sometime tomorrow if I am able to connect to the internet.
